The Lostock AC annual Trail race took place on Wednesday 15 April 2026. This is a fun race for Lostock members only.
The race covers 5 miles, starting at Dicconson Lane, Westhoughton. The race heads along Dodd Lane into Borsdane Wood. Participants complete a loop and then head back in the same direction.
Prior to the race, it had been pouring down with rain but luckily it stopped before the race. Sadly, the rain left the course very wet, making the race even tougher!
This year Lostock AC used the race to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK in honour of member Tony Marlow , who is a cancer survivor. In a fantastic twist of fate, Tony won the race in a time of 40:18, followed by Greg Kilshaw 41:21 and Mark Shuttleworth 42:07.
Nikki Hamerton was the first female in 43:23, followed by Hazel Hatfield 44:57 and Bev Atherton-McKenna 48:18.
Other results include: Gaz Foulkes 42:35, Brian Halton 42:46, Chris Baker 43:36, Steve Hughes 43:42, Gareth Pratt 43:48, John Harrison 43:56, Andy Laycock 44:16

Race report by Jo: Our 6th Parkrun Championships fixture took us to our very own Haigh Hall, where 28 Lostockers raced around thick mud that felt more like January than June. Haigh being Haigh, the route gave us its usual mix of hills, more hills, and that one section where you’re convinced the ground is ... Parkrun Championship Haigh Hall
Race report by Josie: On Saturday, I travelled to the beautiful village of Buttermere in the Western Lake District to run The Buttermere Sailbeck Fell Race. A tough 15km (9.3mi)/ 1,315m (4314ft) mountain horseshoe over two distinct ridgelines. Although a relatively short fell race (for me), a lot of elevation is packed into the distance ...
