Lostock AC were honoured to win the Unsung Project of the Year award at the England Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards. The award recognises a project or initiative that delivers meaningful impact within the club or wider community.
Lostock were rewarded for the Lostock Community Project that commenced in 2026. The project involved working with Primary School students and SEN adults to promote healthy living, exercise and nutritional advice. The club has raised money and donated to local charities including Horwich Foodshare and Fortalice. The club has also raised money for Prostate Cancer.
The club has also organised a number of free couch to 5k courses in both Blackrod and Horwich. This had supported the local community but also enabled us to progress our members by enabling them to compete coaching and run leadership courses
The club has aimed to improve widening participation by introducing the Parkrun Championships and a race fun, where members can be reimbursed for race fees.
We are proud that our efforts have been recognised by England Athletes and we hope to continue to support our members and the local community.
