I have been a member of Lostock ‘AC’ for about 20 years joining the club as a fell runner, cyclist, swimmer with a lot of outdoor experience sailing, canoeing, climbing, caving mountaineering from being a Scout leader for 18 years before that. As I joined Lostock the club needed a road leader coach so I took over this role for a number of years. As I took over as Chairman the first time I could see ‘AC’ after Lostock which was a Running Club only at this time. AC = Athletic Club time to expand our horizons. I encourage the committee and members to start the Triathlon section with cycling and swimming sessions and expanding out to any other outdoor activities. We now organise cycling and ski holidays encouraging members to try other sports eg paddle boarding and boot camp gym work. As well as our core sport Running Road, Fell and Cross County . I am proud of the club and all its members who all support and look out for each other.
I still run short distances but mainly cycle these days. I was never one for competing or racing but now retired I am out most days ‘playing out in sport’
