Orla’s First Park Run – 5 April 2026

Saturday morning saw another strong turnout at parkrun events, with members spread across several locations.

At Haigh Woodland Parkrun, the highlight of the day was a special milestone as baby Orla made her parkrun debut, accompanied by mum Jo McManus (35:11), who perhaps underestimated the notorious hills of the Route B course.

Chris Baker led the Lostock contingent with a new Route B personal best of 25:36. Heather Soden (27:50) impressed with 2nd place in her age category, while Sally McCoy (30:28) claimed top spot in her category.

Other results include: Antony Sutton 27:24, Matt Withers 27:50, Lee Burns 29:15, Greg Kilshaw 30:29, Gill Baker 31:11, Ian Burns 31:30, Markus Stevens 34:02 and Rachel Stevens (Orla’s support team) 35:11.

Over at Bolton parkrun, Rachel Hancock (30:09) and Sheila Garewal (32:57) both secured 2nd place finishes in their respective age categories.

At Peel parkrun, Jay Smith (23:44) and Dougie Ainsworth (27:42) both celebrated new Parkrun personal bests, while Lynda Hardman (29:56) took 1st place in her age category.

There was also a strong Lostock AC turnout at the Warrington Festival of Running, with members taking on both the half marathon and 10K. In the half marathon, Andy Kerks recorded a new personal best of 1:35:05, while Terri Aldred also set a new PB in 1:56:34. Sheila Garewal also had an impressive race finishing ... It was an international outing for two Lostockers as Gill and Chris headed to Denmark to take part in the World Athletics Road Running Championship taking place in Copenhagen. Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
