It was another busy and successful Saturday for Lostock AC, with members representing the club across a number of parkrun events and delivering some excellent performances and age category placings.

 

At Bolton parkrun, Rachel Hancock led the way for the green vests with a time of 30:10, securing 3rd place in her age category. Close behind was Bev Atherton-McKenna, who finished in 30:55 and also claimed 3rd in her age group, continuing her consistent run of strong performances.

Over at Fell Foot parkrun, Sheila Garewal put in a solid effort, completing the scenic course in 32:33.

Haigh Woodland parkrun saw a fantastic turnout from Lostock AC, with a host of impressive results. Chris Baker ran 24:49 to take 2nd in his age category, while Brian Halton went one better, finishing in 25:15 to claim 1st in his age group. Nikki Hammerton delivered an outstanding performance, clocking 26:27 to finish as 3rd female overall and 1st in her age category.

They were supported by a strong team showing from Andy Laycock (26:02), Matt Carney (27:10), Lee Burns (28:23), Antony Sutton (29:17), Ian Burns (31:22), Katie Edern (32:34), Gill Baker (32:34), and Markus Stevens (33:23), highlighting the club’s depth and camaraderie.

Further afield at Tooting Common parkrun, Sally McCoy produced an excellent run of 25:43, earning 2nd place in her age category.

Meanwhile, at Worsley Woods parkrun, Mark Shuttleworth led the charge with a time of 23:26, finishing 3rd in his age category. He was followed by Jay Smith (25:02), Dougie Ainsworth (29:09), George Iveson (29:59), and Terri Aldred (30:00), rounding off another strong showing for the club.

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
