A fantastic turnout saw the green vests of Lostock AC line up at Heaton Park, where runners tackled the undulating two-lap course. Known for its wide paths, steady drags and the sting in the tail from “that hill” before the finish, the course always tests pacing and grit.
There were an awesome 1039 runners taking part in Heaton Parkrun, likely due to a number of Parkrun’s being cancelled dur to the icy weather.
Leading the way for Lostock was Paul Edwards in 20:37, closely followed by Andy Kerks in 21:12, claiming a new Parkrun personal best. Antony Sutton crossed in 21:40 in another strong performance at the sharp end of the field.
There were milestone celebrations and category successes throughout the team. Janet Rhodes ran 23:26 to finish first in her age category, while Sally McCoy (24:28) also topped her age group and completed her 25th Parkrun. Gill Caldwell’s 32:53 earned her third in her age category.
Chris Baker celebrated his 100th Parkrun in style, finishing in 23:56, while personal bests were recorded by Jay Smith (24:33) and Terri Aldred (25:39). Rachel Hancock’s 24:41 secured second in her age category.
Other Lostock AC results include: Pete Edern 23.10, Luke Baker 24:02, Mark Shuttleworth 24:47, Beverley Atherton-McKenna 26:04, Matt Carney 26:28, Lee Burns 26:28, George Iveson 28:04, Ian Burns 28:24, Carol Ensor 28:58, Dougie Ainsworth 30:27, Gill Baker 30:51, Katie Edern 30:53, Lynda Hardman 32:13, Ste Hancock 33:18, Karen Taylor 37:18 and Christine Smith 37:20.
Unfortunately, due to an accident on the M61 some Lostockers missed the race but are aiming for a rematch next Saturday.
Elsewhere on the Parkrun circuit, Sheila Garewal finished second in her age category at Fish Hork in 32:28, alongside Tony Maxwell in 35:17. At Keswick, Emma Chadwick ran a Parkrun PB of 26:15 on her Birthday
