Wednesday 15th May 20204 saw the second race in the Lostock AC Road and Trail Midweek Championship.  Lostock AC headed to Rivington to compete in the Coronation Trail Race. This a fantastic race organised by Horwich RMI Harriers and is the 4th race in the Central Lancashire Race series.

 

The race starts at the side of the Upper Rivington Reservoirand heads into the fells. This is an out and back race covering 6 miles. The first half of the race is up hill with runners covering an elevation gain of 580ft. The final 3 miles were down hill and this made for a fast end to the race. Participants were also energised by the fantastic marshals and support along the course. It was beautiful conditions for a race and on finishing the race, participants witnessed a spectacular sun set.

 

The first Lostocker to cross the finish line, in an epic 46:54 was Dave P, he was followed by Shutters (49:09), Greg (50:42) and Andy 50:46.

The first female Lostock member to cross the finish line was Louise in 51:05 securing 3rd in her age category, followed by Nikki in 51:08 who was 2nd in her age category and the third female was Rachel H in 53:00, achieving 2nd in her age category.

This was a strong effort by the ladies,and they secured 3rd position in the overall female team results.

Other results include: Chris 51:29, Mike E 52:11, Mike B 54;13, Heather 54:51 (2nd in her age category), Kerry 54:51 (2nd in her age category), Tony 55:33 (2nd in his age category), Rachel S 1:00:56, Lynda 1:02:43, Sheila 1:03:22 (3rd in her age category), Checkers 1:04:27, Karen 1:06:09 and Gill 1:08:33 (2nd in her age category).

Joining Lostock AC has been one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I decided to give it a try mainly to loose weight and meet new people. It's really helped with my weight, mental health and output on life. I've been in the club over a year now. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and I love being part of the Lostock family. My running has definitely improved, especially seeing all the medals I've won. It is not just running, Lostock offers other activities too such as cycling, bootcamp and skiing. All I've had a go at which has just been brilliant. Lostock is my second family . I have entered the Machester marathon next year and an ultra. All this for someone who couldn't run . Everyone has made me feel very welcome in the club, I now consider myself to be a runner and would recommend anyone to give Lostock a try.

I joined Lostock AC to help improve my running and to motivate me to run more often. The club has surpassed my expectations. I am not from Bolton originally and did not have many friends in the area. I now feel part of an extended family. I have been encouraged and supported to run half marathons, marathons and an Ultra. I would never believe this was possible 3 years ago.
